I wanted to post this as it should not only make our problem hit home for students but for our group also.  I think an emotional connection will help fuel us to do our best.  Our group problem is a major one at this school.  While ODU has some of the best staff, smartest students and most talented athletes this flaw in the community really hurts Norfolk, Hampton Roads, and ODU’s reputation.

This article discusses crime in general and its effect on impoverished neighborhoods.  While this article is focused on Chicago, Illinois, we can learn and maybe implement these empirical approaches on Norfolk and ODU.
